Cloud File Storage
for shared access across your VMs

Krystal Cloud File Storage gives you network-attached volumes with performance close to a directly attached drive for typical shared workloads, alongside the flexibility of scalable storage. Mount the same volume across multiple VMs and pay only for the disk space you use, rather than the capacity you allocate.

How Cloud File Storage works

File Storage is network-attached. You create a volume and mount it over the network from one or more VMs at the same time, so several machines share a single, consistent set of files. For typical shared workloads, it delivers performance close to a directly attached drive.

When to use File Storage

Use it for shared application data, CMS upload and media directories. Virtual File Storage is also suitable for distributed workloads where several VMs need a common data layer.

Look elsewhere if you need a fast disk for a single VM. Here Block Storage is the better fit. And if you’re serving static assets to the web at scale, Object Storage handles it more affordably.

What you get with File Storage

Billed on actual usage

You pay for the disk space you use, not the size you allocate. Provision generously without paying for empty space.

Shared across VMs

Mount the same volume from multiple VMs so your application tier reads and writes a single source of files.

Scales with you

Grow capacity as you go. There’s nothing to re-provision when a volume fills.

Built on the Krystal Cloud storage platform

Krystal’s cloud File Storage services attach to the VMs you already run. It runs on the same distributed storage platform as the rest of Krystal Cloud, across data centres in London, Amsterdam and New York. Three copies of your data allow for automatic recovery if a node fails. For the full platform detail, see Krystal Cloud Storage .
