NOC Technical Engineer - (Nights)

We are looking for experienced Linux System Administrators, to form our overnight NOC team. Shifts would be a 4 on, 4 off, rolling pattern of 10pm-8am.

As a NOC Technical Engineer, you will monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain client infrastructure and networks. You’ll be responsible for responding to alerts, resolving technical issues, and supporting clients across a wide range of technologies. You’ll work closely with Senior engineers, as well as the Systems and Service Desk teams, to ensure SLAs are met and issues are resolved efficiently.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor client environments (servers, networks, backups, applications) using monitoring tools.

  • Respond to and triage incoming alerts, tickets, emergency calls and incidents, according to defined SLAs.

  • Perform 1st, 2nd & 3rd line support and troubleshooting, on issues related to:

LAMP stack cPanel & WHM Server performance (CPU, RAM, disk usage) Network connectivity (VPN, DNS, DHCP) Mail configuration and deliverability WordPress configuration and support Cloud services (Katapult, AWS, Azure) Backups, restores, antivirus, patch compliance

  • Escalate complex or unresolved incidents to on-call engineers, Senior support or vendor partners.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, ticket notes, and update internal knowledge base.

  • Perform maintenance tasks such as patching and system updates, software/OS version upgrades, server resource changes, SSL installations and system health checks.

  • Participate in shift rotations, covering nights and weekends, providing 24/7 coverage alongside our core hours team. Shifts would be a 4 on, 4 off, rolling pattern of 10pm-8am.

Essential requirements

  • Extensive Linux SysAdmin experience, with strong LAMP stack knowledge
  • Working knowledge of cPanel & WHM management, administration and configuration
  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, VLAN)
  • Extensive experience with Windows & Linux Server Operating Systems, Virtualisation, Cloud Services (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • "Autonomously Excellent" - you possess the skill set required to self-solve a wide range of problems, and when you don’t know how immediately, you figure a solution out
  • Strong attention to detail and organised under pressure
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Comfortable managing multiple tickets and alerts simultaneously
  • Passion for technology and continuous learning
  • Security conscious
  • A native-level English speaker

Highly desirable experience

  • Experience with IaC tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible)
  • Working knowledge of firewalls, switches, backup tools, and monitoring platforms (Zabbix / Nagios / Grafana / PagerDuty / incident.io)
  • Scripting knowledge (Bash / Ansible / PowerShell)
  • WHMCS
  • Knowledge of end-user applications such as WordPress, Joomla, Magento etc
  • Understanding of mod_security and security best practices
