Krystal's 19th and a present for the future

It seems quite surreal but it’s now been 19 years since I founded Krystal. Having a birthday is a great opportunity to reflect on where you are, what you’ve achieved and where you’re going. So, here’s a brief update on what’s happening with us.

Purpose, renewed

I created Krystal to leave the world a better place than I found it. Krystal has always been about more than just making money, its purpose is to leave a lasting positive legacy. Reading the recent IPCC report and witnessing first-hand the changes affecting our planet has highlighted the importance of what we’re trying to do.

In January this year we co-founded the Million Tree Pledge and by August became the first company to plant 1 million trees as part of that pledge. However, there’s still so much to do in order to avoid a climate catastrophe, and it will require a coordinated global effort to stave off the worst of futures.

Krystal is to become a Regenerative Business working to restore the health of individuals, communities and the planet while maintaining our absolute commitment to being the best in the world at what we do. As part of this process we’re undergoing a full carbon impact assessment and working towards our B Corp certification.

If you’re interested in joining the fight to restore our planet we’d love the assistance. Read our recent blog post to discover three things you can start today that will make a difference.

Where’s the party?!

Those of you who’ve been with us long enough probably remember celebrating with us at Swingers Golf, The Mulberry Bush or Namco Funscape. You may also recall that we used to celebrate our birthday in March (because that was when Krystal was incorporated – first as an LLP in 2003, and later as a Ltd. in 2011).

We’ve decided to celebrate our birthday when we were actually founded, which we’re taking as the date we registered KrystalSolutions.co.uk - September 17th 2002.

We wanted to have another party but with Covid as it is we didn’t want to plan something then have to cancel it. Instead, we thought we’d do something for the planet (see below) and shoot for an epic birthday party next year when we hit the big 2-0.

Trust us...it’ll be worth the wait.

A present, for the future

Given that we’re not having an in-person party this year, we thought we’d do something positive for the planet instead.

We’ve teamed up with Bristol-based Ecologi to offset the entire lifetime carbon footprint of our 62-strong workforce (not just time at work and business travel, but their personal carbon footprint too, since birth!).

You can read more about how this is calculated here. There’s a 15% surplus, so we’re not just carbon neutral, we’re carbon negative.

I’ve always said that Krystal is great people, great technology, in that order. Yet we wouldn’t be here without our clients, so a deep “Thank You!” for your continued support of Krystal and our style of business.

I’m proud of what we’ve achieved so far, but oddly it feels like Krystal’s just getting started. I’m excited for the next chapter and glad that you’ll be joining us in what’s shaping up to be our most exciting year yet.

As always, please get in touch if you'd like to talk.

Thank you for your continued custom,
