Krystal joins 1% for the Planet!

We’re always looking for more and better ways to maximise our positive impact. Our Billion Tree Pledge and B Corp certification are just two of our ongoing initiatives.

Today, we’re delighted to announce that Krystal is now a member of 1% for the Planet, committing ourselves to donate at least 1% of our annual revenue to further environmental causes.

Created by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, 1% for the Planet asks companies to take responsibility for their own environmental impact by donating a percentage of their annual sales to accredited organisations. Since it started in 2002, members have given over $500,000,000 to 1% for the Planet’s environmental partners, helping to protect the planet for future generations.

Funding projects around the world

Through the organisation, charities and other environmental projects go through an accreditation process, ensuring that each is aligned with the impact areas required by 1% for the Planet:

• Rights to nature - Focusing on renewable energy, community conservation, nature access, and land and water rights.
• Conservation & restoration - Supporting biodiversity, wildlife, and marine, freshwater, and terrestrial ecosystems.
• Resilient communities - Helping communities adapt to climate change, toxic environments, and pollution, building sustainable cities, and educating about the environment.
• Just economies - Promoting responsible consumption, production, and food systems, supporting sustainable livelihoods, and building decarbonisation projects.

Through organisations that focus on these impact areas, members can be certain their funding is going directly towards projects that provide maximum benefit.

How Krystal (and you!) are helping

By joining we're committing to donate at least 1% of our gross revenue but we're actually donating closer to 2.5% to organisations such as Rewilding Britain, The Hygiene Bank, and the Fairtrade Foundation. Through our donations, we're working with projects, thought leaders and communities to ensure a thriving and sustainable planet.

And that revenue comes from you, our valued clients, with every domain name, hosting renewal, or VM you purchase. (Don’t forget, you’re already helping the planet by being a Krystal client - check out the trees we’re planting for you every month in your Client Area!

Join us in our mission!

If you want to maximise your own positive impact, you can also join 1% for the Planet. Along with signing up as a business partner, you can donate to their Planet Impact Fund. The fund invests entirely in businesses that fit in with the goals of 1% for the Planet, and every year approximately 10% of the total assets within the fund are distributed to vetted environmental nonprofit organisations.

Only through collaborative action will we be able to turn the tide on the climate crisis. Initiatives such as 1% for the Planet make it as simple as possible for businesses (and individuals!) to make sure their efforts and resources are directed to where they’re needed the most.
